Another case solved with help from media and the public

Medical Examiner identifies second man

Edmonton...Kenneth (Kenny) Cardinal, of Lac La Biche, has been identified as the man whose body was found in an apartment building at 118 Avenue and 56 Street in Edmonton on May 6.

The Medical Examiner's office received numerous phone calls and a number of solid leads after the man's photograph was released to media on June 1. The tips led investigators to the man's family and positive identification was made through medical x-rays.

"For the second time in a week, we've been able to identify an individual after we exhausted all the usual methods. Once again, the fact that we've been successful is due in large part to the help of the news media and Albertans," said Dennis Caufield, Medical Investigator. "On behalf of the Medical Examiner's office, I'd like to thank the media for helping get the word out so this individual's family can now lay him to rest."
